About Us

LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT cc ( LSA ) has been formed by Ian Puntis and Ian Dyson to sell and distribute Light Sport Aircraft and associated accessories in Africa.A critical shortage of excellent quality and economic personal aircraft in Southern Africa led us to look at what aircraft was available on the world market and what was available in South Africa that was manufactured in aluminum. Our focus was on acquisition cost, running cost, size and structure of the aircraft and levels of service available to prospective buyers.

After much research a decision was reached to examine the very high quality SportCruiser LSA aircraft which had been specifically designed and built to the new FAA Light Sport Aircraft category rules. The SportCruiser offered not only a very large cockpit of 46 inches (a basic requirement), but was also an aircraft designed without compromise.

The partners both visited the manufacturer in the Czech Republic in April 2006: Ian Puntis, an aviation enthusiast and holder of a private pilots licence and Ian Dyson, the owner and well known operator of Lanseria Flight Centre (LFC) offering professional flight training and air charter solutions in Southern Africa.

Czech Aircraft Works is an already well-known manufacturer of the Zodiac range of aircraft and also suppliers of wings and various other aircraft components to the American and World markets. We were most impressed with the extremely high quality of the workmanship and pride in the factory employers – the commercial morality, honesty and sincerity of the American owners that an Agreement was entered into to distribute the SportCruiser and Mermaid range of aircraft. In just 8 years Czech Aircraft Works has grown to be one of the world's premier light sport aircraft producers. CZAW now has over 130 employees and ships over 150 aircraft per year.

The SportCruiser is available with the 100 HP Rotax engine.

LSA has also added the Paradise P1 Highwing to it's product line. The P1 is built in Brazil to the Brazilian specs of maximum MAUW of 750kgs and the US spec of 600kgs. Aircraft supplied to the South African Market are certified to 750kgs.

At LSA, we don't ignore the fundamentals of aviation design. We simply provide a new ingenious solution. Our judgement is not clouded by "that's the way it's always been done". Today we offer what is arguably the best value in well-designed, technologically superior personal aircraft.
